Halewood Arts College - At the Heart of the Community!

Led by Community Arts Manager, Klare Murray, the Community Arts Department at Halewood Community Arts College is committed to bringing together local people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate the arts in as many different and exciting ways as possible.
Since September 2001 a wide variety of multi-arts opportunities have been created for people in the surrounding community.

Community

Community work has engaged many people in the Halewood area and beyond, has helped people in learning new skills and supported local organisations.
‘In Memory Of’ was a project, in which a professional writer visited the elders at St Mary’s Day Centre and co-wrote a musical capturing all their Wartime memories. This was then performed by our students at the Arts College, and was a fantastic way of bringing people together.

Partner Schools

10 local primary schools are regularly benefiting from Halewood Arts College’s Community out-reach work. Each school has received Drama, Dance and Music workshops led by teachers from the college and professional practitioners.
All the schools participated in our Christmas project ‘Cool Yule’ which was a great success and performed at the College.
Next year all primaries from the Southern Cluster will be participating in a gifted and talented ‘Make a play in 2 days’ project.
